You’ve made it! You have a job as a project manager. Maybe you worked hard to get here, or maybe you backed your way into the role, not fully realizing what you were getting yourself into.

You know your work is meaningful—to the world, or to customers, or even just to the company you work for. You’re making a valuable contribution because without you, your company’s ideas wouldn’t become a reality. And you’re exercising many skills and overcoming many challenges to get your projects across the finish line. You should be able to take a deep pride and satifsaction in your work.

But that’s difficult to do, because you’re stressed and overwhelmed so much of the time. You’re pulled in so many directions and you have so many details to manage and interactions to navigate just to keep your projects afloat. You long to be able to calm the chaos, but most of the time you’re just trying to survive it.

I get it, because I’ve been there. Shortly after being trained in my first project management role, I had more projects on my plate than I could sustainably handle. As I became more efficient and leveled up to meet the workload, pressure mounted to take on projects in more parts of the company. I can’t think of a time in my 8+ years as a project manager that I truly had capacity for everything asked of me. I knew I was doing meaningful work. But I rarely had time to appreciate it because I was too stressed and exhausted.

And yet, managing projects in these conditions has taught me many lessons. There isn’t a single, simple fix to make the stress go away, but I’ve discovered and honed many techniques and strategies that—when put together—have made things MUCH better. A mix of philosophical shifts and practical tactics are allowing me to carve out the margin I need and cut my stress down even though the demands of my job haven’t changed. They are giving me the space to feel like the project superhero I am.

Would you like to know what strategies are doing this for me? Because I would love to share them with you, and save you years of learning them the hard way! I’ve distilled my 10 best strategies into a digital guide called “Quick-Win Stress-Busters for Project Managers.” This guide:
